hai hai ketemu lg sama saya, kali ini saya posting salah satu materi semantics hehe seperti biasa ini adalah salah satu tugas sekolah saya :D hehe let see

SENSE RELATION

1.         Homonymy is the relation between two words that are spelled the same way but different in meaning or the relation between two words that are pronounced the same way but different in meaning.

There are 2 kinds of Homonymy :

                        ~ Homograph à is about how to write

                                    The Example : book1, book2

                                    book1 : number of printed sheets of paper. (book)

                                    book2 : order something. (order ticket, order room, etc)

~Homophone à is about how to speak

The Example : hour and our

2.         Polysemy is the association of one word or phrase with two or more distinct meanings but related senses.

The Examples of Polysemy :

~Wood

1. a piece of a tree

                         2. a geographical area with many trees

~Crane

1. a bird

2. a type of construction equipment

3. to strain out one's neck

3.         Synonym is a word that have the same or nearly the same meaning as another word or other words in a language. (similarities).

The Examples of Synonym :

            ~start = begin      

~big = huge

 ~jump = leap

 ~create = make

            ~small = tiny

            ~bush = shrub

            ~silence = quiet

~scream = yell

            ~absolutely = totally

~student = pupil

4.         Antonymy is a word that have a meaning opposite to that of another word.

There are 4 kinds of Antonymy :

1. Binary antonyms à hue ; false,  alive ; dead, single; married

2. Relational antonyms à husband  ; wife,  doctor ; patient, teach ; learn

3. Gradable antoyms à old ; young, beautiful ; ugly, early ; late

4. Multiple Incrampatible àspring ; summer ; fall ; winter

5.         Hyponymy is a specific term used to designate a member of a class.

The Examples of Hyponymy :

                                    ~Dog is hyponymy of animal

                                    ~Rose is hyponymy of flowers

                                    ~Red is hyponymy of colour

6.         Meronymy is a word that denotes a constituent part or a member of something.

The Examples of Meronymy :

            ~House : window, door, floor

            ~Part of human bodies : ear, leg, nose, hand
